As the saying goes, “arepa is our everyday bread”, therefore, it has several ways to prepare it, each one more delicious than the other. One of these ways is the pork crackling arepa, which are based on corn flour with chunks of pork crackling. It is delicious and it doesn’t even need filling, but an option can be stuffing them with guayanes or hand cheese.
Ingredients

200 gr Pork Crackling | |
Salt to taste |

Preparation

In a bowl, place the corn flour and the salt to taste.

Add the water little by little, kneading simultaneously until a soft, without lumps dough.

Put the crackling on a clean, dry towel and smash with the mallet.

Incorporate the crackling to the dough and mix until integrated.

Divide the dough into balls of medium size.

Give shape of a disc of approximately 9 cm diameter by 2 cm thick with your hands.

Heat the grill and grease with oil.

Place the arepas on the grill, cooking both sides until golden.

Serve filled, one option is with hand cheese and ham.
