Recipe that, even though it can be prepared at any time of the year, it reminds us of Christmas in our country, because it is one of those desserts we serve at the Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve dinner to sweeten palates in those moments of family happiness. Based on figs in syrup, this sweet is one of the kings of the table in many Venezuelan regions.

1 kg of fresh Figs | |
7 cups Sugar | |
1 cup shredded Papelon | |
5 Spice Cloves | |
Water as sufficient |

Preparation

Whiten the figs in a pot with plenty of water for 2 minutes and freeze from one day to another.

After that time, remove the figs from the freezer and wash with water.

Cut the figs crosswise vertically with a knife and place in a large saucepan with the sugar and 1 ½ liters of water.

Bring to the boil, pour the shredded papelón and cook for 4 hours on low heat or to a thick syrup and when figs are transparent.

Let stand and packaged in a glass container and bring to the refrigerator for 5 hours.

Serve cold or at room temperature.
